Options

The 'Options' button is a long press button that displays a menu of choices for updating content of the SongMate database and for viewing music content contained on the external SD-Card. Set Preferences allows setting a case preference for song artist and media/company values stored on the database. Preference Mass Updates applies case format as defined by Set Preference Options to all items of the selected type. Delete allows deleting a song, artist or media/company from the database. Delete References allows deleting a reference to a song, artist and media/company combination. Search SD Card will display a submenu listing the options for viewing music stored on external SD-Card.

Set Preferences

The screen shot on the upper right shows the 'Application Preferences' screen. When selecting the menu item 'Set Preferences', Songs, Artist, Media and Company values can be set to the preferred text case formatting option. The option selected sets the format for storing and searching for items on the database. Changes made to a case preference are affective immediately and requires running 'Preference Mass Update' on the changed field(s) to convert previously stored items to the newly selected format. Note: not running a mass update after changing a case preference will affect database searches and could generate Not Found conditions.

It is recommended that the home screen be cleared prior to making a case preference change and that the Mass Update be run immediately following any change to case preference settings. If the home screen is not cleared and a save is performed a duplicate item condition could be created and would require deleting the duplicate and any reference associated with it.

Preference Mass Updates

The screen shot on the lower left shows check boxes for selecting mass updates of case preferences. After checking an item, selecting the OK button will cause a mass update to occur applying the case preference values set on the Application Preferences screen. The update is applied to every item in the selected table.

External SD-Card

The screen shot on the lower right shows a menu containing the options for viewing music housed on the SD-Card of your device. Songs, Artist and Albums relationships can be viewed in a similar way as viewed on the SongMate database. The content of the home screen is used to apply filtering. If the home screen has been cleared selecting the menu item 'List songs from SD Card' will return a list of all songs housed on the SD-Card. Selecting Artist or Album functions in the same way listing all artist and all albums.

When an item is selected from the 'Search SD Card' submenu any song, artist or album values displayed on the home screen will be applied as filters when searching the SD-Card. Thus, if an album title is displayed on the home screen and the 'List songs from SD Card' submenu item is selected, a list of songs on that album will be returned. If multiple items are contained on the home screen they will be used to filter the search request.

Items returned from an SD-Card search can be saved to the SongMate database as defined by the insert requirements.
